We write at the intersection of biology and computing — which means hype is everywhere. These standards keep our reporting grounded.

Source tiers

🥇 Primary

Research papers, NASA, universities, ClinicalTrials.gov, NIH, peer-reviewed journals

Examples: Nature, PubMed, Stanford Medicine, FDA databases

🥈 Industry

Company technical blogs, official trial announcements, product documentation

Examples: DeepMind, NVIDIA, Synchron, Neuralink trial registries

Company claims are balanced with independent sources.

🥉 Trusted media

Established reporting for context and framing

Examples: WIRED, MIT Technology Review, Reuters, TechCrunch (for regulatory caveats)

Media sources support narrative — they do not replace primary evidence.

Core standards

No unsourced claims

Statistics, trial outcomes, and performance numbers link to a primary document or trusted report.

Label uncertainty

Preprints, early feasibility studies, and breakthrough designations are described with their regulatory meaning — not as finished products.

Separate hype from evidence

Promotional language from companies is quoted or paraphrased with independent context.

Licensed visuals only

Cover photos come from Pexels or Unsplash (free commercial use) — generic scenes with no logos or branded devices. We do not use copyrighted press images or reproduce journal figures without permission. Photo credits appear on article pages.

Timeless framing

Articles explain what is established, what is investigational, and what is not — without forward-looking timelines or dates that go stale. Sources carry the evidence; the prose stays readable long after publication.
